The Beijing delegation to the second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) held a press conference on March 9 to discuss its work.

Li Chunrong, the delegation's spokesperson and head of the Research Office of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, briefed the media on how the delegation had performed its duties.

Li commended the 54 deputies for their commitment, reflected in their submission of a motion and 150 suggestions. The motion called for the swift development of a Museum Law, while the suggestions addressed various areas including the cultivation of talent in artificial intelligence, regional collaboration within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and enhancements to the business environment.

Li emphasized the importance of thorough research, noting that detailed reports and insightful observations laid the groundwork for the delegation's impactful statements during the session.

This year, the Beijing delegation focused on key issues such as developing new quality productive forces, revitalizing rural areas, preserving traditional culture, supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises, accelerating the construction of childcare facilities, promoting dignified elder care, ensuring graduate employment, improving fertility support policies, and addressing challenges faced by women in career development.

The delegation actively participated in reviewing reports and the draft revision of the Organic Law of the State Council. They contributed 296 constructive suggestions for improvements, some of which have already been adopted.

Li underscored the delegation's commitment to open communication, actively engaging with both domestic and international media outlets to share updates and address public concerns. Notably, they organized an open group activity where 55 journalists from 35 media outlets participated in a collective interview.
