The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is making strides in industrial upgrading by developing six major industrial chains and five industrial clusters, with a focus on sectors like new energy vehicles, integrated circuit, and cybersecurity.
This collaborative effort is led by companies in Beijing, which play a crucial role in driving the transformation and upgrading of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain.
The collaboration is particularly evident in the complex and extensive automotive industry chain, where Beijing's automobile enterprises act as leaders in the industrial chain. Currently, nearly 200 auto parts manufacturers in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region have established partnership with the automobile enterprises in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.
Over the past decade, such initiatives have yielded remarkable results. The automotive industry in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area has witnessed a threefold increase in its value-added industrial output, while the Tianjin Wuqing Automotive Industry Park, a close collaborator, has seen more than a tenfold increase in industrial output.
Thanks to deeper cooperation on industrial chains, leading industrial chains and advanced manufacturing clusters have emerged in the region. Data shows that the total value-added industrial output of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached 2.43 trillion yuan (US$337.83 billion) in 2023, which was 1.43 times the figure in 2013, calculated at current prices.
In addition, Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province have jointly worked on developing advanced manufacturing clusters, focusing on sectors such as integrated circuit and cybersecurity. Notable projects like Alibaba's data center in Zhangbei county of Hebei province have been completed and launched. The total number of collaborative projects of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached 2,024, with a total investment of about 1.3 trillion yuan.
