The Oriental Plaza, located at the heart of Beijing's Dongcheng district, is set to welcome the first national flagship store of Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle line of tech giant Xiaomi Corporation.
As part of its efforts to upgrade consumption patterns, the commercial complex features showrooms of a wide variety of automotive brands, spanning from newcomers like Xiaomi and NIO to established ones such as BYD and Cadillac.
A highlight of the EV showrooms is the one for NIO, which opened in 2017. Spanning 3,000 square meters, it provides customers with the opportunity to explore and test drive the latest models, while also offering themed activities tailored for car owners.
In recent years, with the rise of new players in the automotive industry and the introduction of new models from traditional car manufacturers, there has been a shift in retail models.
These new players have adopted a direct-to-consumer retail approach, venturing into urban commercial landmarks and popular shopping complexes. They established multifunctional showrooms that blend product display, consumer engagement, and consumer experience activities, effectively bringing cutting-edge vehicle technologies closer to the consumers, particularly among the younger generation.
In addition to the Oriental Plaza, numerous automotive showrooms have also been established within various commercial complexes across the city, including SOLANA and Changying Paradise Walk.
