Beijing's sub-center in Tongzhou district has unveiled 141 key tasks aimed at industrial restructuring, ecological preservation, and pollution mitigation to advance green development across the region, according to a press conference Monday.

The government has launched 20 policy measures, including to pilot the construction of an energy internet and support climate investment and financing. These measures are expected to offer robust support for advancing green development in the sub-center.

As construction, transportation, and industry are responsible for 99% of the sub-center's energy consumption and carbon emissions, they are the primary fields for developing and applying green technologies. The sub-center is committed to promoting smart and comfortable green buildings, encouraging green construction practices throughout all projects, and encouraging the adoption of ultra-low-energy buildings in key areas.

In pursuit of green transportation, the district aims to build an efficient, green, and environmentally friendly network. It will also build demonstration zones of new energy vehicles and construct high-quality pedestrian and cyclist-friendly pathways along the waterfront.

Furthermore, the sub-center is committed to fostering innovation-driven green industries, nurturing new quality productive forces. This involves attracting green financial institutions, and broadening the range of green financial products, so as to accelerate the establishment of a global hub for green and sustainable finance.

As part of its efforts to boost energy utilization efficiency, the sub-center plans to implement comprehensive measures to reduce oil usage, lower emissions, and bolster electricity generation.

In addition, the district will proactively promote the application of green electricity, accelerate the development of a novel power system, and establish an intelligent and efficient grid aligned with this new power infrastructure.
