The annual "Ancestor Worship Ceremony in the Yellow Emperor's Hometown" will take place on April 11 at the Yellow Emperor's Hometown Scenic Area in Xinzheng, Henan province, central China.

The organizing committee announced this during a news conference in Beijing on March 30. This event, a national intangible cultural heritage activity, will be jointly hosted by relevant departments from both the central government and Henan authorities.

Huangdi is considered in Chinese mythology to be the ancestor of all Han Chinese and laid foundation of Chinese civilization.

Huangdi's hometown Xinzheng boasts a rich cultural heritage and a long history. It is the birthplace of the Yellow Emperor, the revered ancestor of the Chinese nation, where he established his capital and began his endeavors. The city attracts overseas Chinese from around the world who come to trace their roots and explore the origins of Chinese civilization.

During the news conference, representatives from the organizing committee shared details about the main arrangements, features, and preparations for the ceremony.

In addition to the ceremony itself, local governments have planned related activities, including an exhibition of Chinese painting, calligraphy, and seal cutting, a drama evening party, and a conference on the development of traditional Chinese medicine. Furthermore, the ceremony will feature online ancestor worship, connecting participants worldwide. The global Chinese online ancestor worship platform associated with the ceremony will launch on April 2.

In 1992, the Xinzheng government elevated the folk worship activity of the Yellow Emperor to a tourism festival. In 2006, Henan provincial authorities upgraded it to an annual ancestor worship ceremony. On June 7, 2008, the worship ceremony was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage, solidifying its significance for Chinese people both domestically and abroad.
