Beijing's Xicheng district on Monday released measures on providing funds to encourage private efforts in building museums.

The measures aim to provide financial support for private museums and museums affiliated with state-owned enterprises that are registered with the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau. These museums are eligible to receive a one-time subsidy payment of 200,000 yuan (US$27,647).

Furthermore, museums that received funding for city-level exhibitions and educational activities in the previous year can receive as much as 400,000 yuan thanks to the new measures.

Museums that did not receive funds for city-level exhibitions and educational activities in the previous year can apply for district-level funds. Each museum can propose up to three exhibition projects, each eligible for funds up to 100,000 yuan.

In terms of talent support, museum professionals with significant academic achievements are prioritized for recommendation to apply for the talent funding project in Xicheng district.

Based on evaluations from the municipal cultural heritage bureau, private museums with sound performance can receive 100,000 yuan with a rating of "excellent," and 50,000 yuan with a rating of "qualified."
