The comprehensive transportation hub of Beijing Chaoyang Station is set to be completed and operational in 2024. After its opening, railway passengers will be able to transfer directly to Subway Line 3 with a walking distance of about 300 meters.

Located west of Beijing Chaoyang railway station, which opened in early 2021, the transportation hub has a total construction area of approximately 133,000 square meters, with two floors above ground and three underground levels. There are also 61 elevators and escalators intended to minimize walking distance for passengers.

Various modes of transportation will be integrated to the hub, including railways, buses, subway, taxis, ride-hailing services, and bicycles. It has a planned capacity for 16 bus routes, and can offer parking spaces for 80 buses, eight tourist buses, 300 ride-hailing vehicles, 15 taxis, 300 private cars, and 1,500 bicycles.

There will also be a dedicated ride-hailing waiting area, and the hub aims to enhance the experience for passengers and local residents with well-decorated rest areas and commercial spaces for shopping while waiting for transport, according to an official of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform.

Data shows that Beijing's investment in infrastructure construction rose 25.2% year on year in the first quarter of this year. Besides the Chaoyang transportation hub, construction of other projects is also in full swing, such as a new section of Subway Line 1 and the transportation hub of the Beijing sub-center.
