The 2024 Beijing Museum Activity Month is set to begin on Saturday, coinciding with the International Museum Day. The month-long event will feature an exhibition week, a cultural creative week, a film week, and a reading week.

A highlight of the exhibition week, which runs from May 18 to 24, is a themed exhibition on the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Museums from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei will jointly showcase their treasures to the public at the Beijing Grand Canal Museum.

In addition, over 100 museums, including the Capital Museum, China Railway Museum, Beijing Art Museum, Beijing Stone Carving Art Museum, Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum, and Beijing Folk Arts Museum, will host nearly 1,000 online and offline exhibitions during the exhibition week. The public can obtain 10,000 free tickets per day through the "Beijing Museum Cloud" mini app on WeChat.

During the cultural creative week, starting May 25, a design competition focused on creative cultural and museum products will be held. Various museums and temples, such as the National Natural History Museum of China, Beijing Grand Canal Museum, and Beijing Art Museum, will organize cultural fairs during the weekend.

The film week, beginning on June 1, will see nearly 30 museums extend their opening hours and screen more than 10 top-notch films for audiences.

The reading week, starting on June 8, will feature activities such as readers' meetings and book fairs at the main venues - the Capital Museum and the Beijing Grand Canal Museum. Other museums will also arrange relevant reading activities.

On June 18, a Sanxingdui-themed exhibition will be unveiled at the Grand Canal Museum, adding to the diverse array of cultural offerings.
