Beijing welcomes 7.79 million visitors during Dragon Boat Festival

During the Dragon Boat Festival, Beijing welcomed 7.79 million visitors, generating a total tourism revenue of over 10 billion yuan (US$1.38 billion). The city hosted over 2,100 cultural and tourism activities including public cultural activities and performances. 

Wangfujing, Qianmen Street, and Nanluoguxiang were the top three destinations for tourists. Over 1.35 million visitors travelled to villages around Beijing, marking a 16.3% increase year on year. The revenue of village tourism was 172.7 million yuan, up 8.3% year on year. Yanqing district attracted 471,000 visitors, followed by Miyun district with 289,000 visitors. 

Public cultural service organizations offered 1,306 cultural activities, engaging 1.41 million people. Visitors at scenic spots such as Tiantan Park, Yuyuantan Park, and Zhongshan Park enjoyed traditional cultural performances and participated in intangible cultural heritage activities related to the Dragon Boat Festival. The activities included making "zongzi" (traditional Chinese rice dumplings), five-colored silk-threaded braid, and perfume pouches. 

During the holiday, 154 venues across the city staged 846 performances, attracting a total of 261,000 people, an increase of 30.4% year on year. The performances spanned various genres, including concerts, plays, musical theaters, dances, and children's plays.
