Yan'an Pagoda Hill stands to the southeast of Yan'an city. Its name is derived from the nine-story pagoda that was built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Yan'an is a prefecture-level city in Shaanxi Province in northwest China. It was near the endpoint of the Long March, and became the center of the Chinese Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945) and China's War of Liberation (1945-1949).
