The Sixth Plenum of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC approved the "Resolution on Certain Questions in Our Party's History since the Founding of the PRC," correctly summing up the major historical events of the Party from the time of the founding of the People's Republic of China, particularly the "cultural revolution."

The Resolution realistically evaluated the historic role played by Mao Zedong in the Chinese revolution and fully elaborated the great significance of Mao Zedong Thought as the guiding ideology of the Party.

It affirmed the correct path for building a modern and powerful socialist country, a path gradually established since the Third Plenum of the 11th CPC Central Committee which conforms to China's realities, and further pointed out the orientation for the continued advance of the country’s socialist cause and the Party's work.
