Between December 1949 and February 1950, Mao Zedong paid a visit to the Soviet Union. The two governments signed the “Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship, Alliance and Mutual Assistance” and other agreements. Premier and concurrently Foreign Minister Zhou Enlai is shown here signing the treaty on February 14, 1950.
