Explosives found in monastery

Lanzhou Police found a gun, 10 kg of explosives and five detonators in a major monastery in Hezuo of Gansu's Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture on Monday, local authorities said yesterday.

In neighboring Xiahe county, police seized 11 flags of the "Tibetan-government-in-exile" in four monasteries.

So far, 2,204 people, including 519 monks, have surrendered to police in connection with the riots in Gannan from March 14 to 19. Police have so far released 1,870 who committed only minor offenses.
