Holiday mood is everywhere. Peace and joy are almost palpable, washing away the last traces of unrest incited by rioters in March.

During the May Day holiday period, Tibet is greeting a large number of visitors. On Saturday alone it saw more than 34 thousand tourists.

Many of them are attracted by the beauty of the landscape and the warmth of the people.

A Hong Kong tourist said, "It's much better than I expected. The landscape is gorgeous."

Among the crowd at the Potala Palace Square is Zhang Qingli, secretary of the CPC Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region. He chatted with the tourists, introduced them to sightseeing spots, and ensured them that the region has regained its peace.

Zhang Qingli, Secretary of CPC Committee, Tibet, said, "The March 14th riots are already behind us. The city has been restored in every way. We welcome tourists and friends from all over the country and the world."

Zhang Qingli adds that although great losses had been inflicted during the riots, the Party's and the central government's support and care have made possible a quick recovery, and won the trust of the local people in the process.
