China's cabinet appoints senior officials

The State Council, China's cabinet, announced Wednesday the appointment of some high-level officials, including a vice minister of public security.

Li Dongsheng, a senior official with the Ministry of Public Security, replaced Liu Jing to be vice minister of Public Security, said a statement from the State Council.

Su Bo and Liu Lihua were appointed vice ministers of Industry and Information Technology, the statement said.

Zhang Jianguo was appointed vice minister of Human Resources and Social Security as well as director of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, replacing Ji Yunshi.

Zou Zhiwu took on the post of deputy commissioner of the General Administration of Customs, replacing Li Kenong.

Sun Zhihui was removed from the post of director of the State Oceanic Administration. Sun was replaced by Liu Xigui, the statement said.

Sheng Guangzu was removed from the post of commissioner of the General Administration of Customs, the statement said.

Last week, at the bimonthly session of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, Sheng was appointed minister of railways to replace Liu Zhijun, who is under investigation for alleged severe violation of discipline.
