Following are some quotes on Chinese participation in international affairs by political advisor Zhao Qizheng, head of Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee at the ongoing CPPCC annual session on Sunday:

-- Chinese need to have an updated and more open awareness of international affairs to match China's status on global stage and adapt to the trend of world development.

-- Chinese people increasingly care about China's status in the world, and pay close attention to the impact of international situation on China and have a stronger willingness to voice on international affairs.

-- The Chinese public need to know the international community more thoroughly and comprehensively.

-- The Chinese must avoid narrow nationalism, have a sense of national pride and dignity, and at the same time be far-sighted and broad-minded about the global issues.

-- The Chinese public must understand China's commitment and responsibility to the world and support the country's contribution to the world within its own capabilities and national comprehensive strength.
