Senior Chinese leader Liu Yunshan on Tuesday stressed the need to bolster core socialist values and create a positive social atmosphere.
Liu made the remarks while taking part in a panel discussion with political advisors from sectors of social sciences, press and publications at the ongoing annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, the country's top political advisory body.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called for efforts to strengthen the education of core socialist values among the public.
More high-quality coverage, TV programs, and books are needed to help the people better understand the mainstream values, he said.
Core socialist values include national goals of prosperity, democracy, civility and harmony; social goals of freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law; and individual values of patriotism, dedication, integrity and friendship.
The leader asked political advisors to take the lead in practicing core socialist values and set an example to the society.
