"Invincible Queen" Maya Moore scored 40 points but Shanxi was smashed by defending champion Beijing 97-66 in the semifinals of WCBA playoffs here on Tuesday.
The former WNBA superstar Moore shot 10-13 from beyond the arc and made all 13 points of Shanxi in the third quarter, however, none of her teammates scored more than 10 points.
Shanxi, who beat Beijing on the road in the regular season, failed to show their domination after a quick 8-point lead in the early stage of the first quarter.
Beijing outscored Shanxi 32-21 in the second quarter to lead with 11 points and never trailed after the halftime break.
"I didn't expected we can get a easy win against Shanxi. Teamwork is the key for our victory, but we still need to improve the defence strategy on Moore," Beijing's coach Xu Limin said.
Zhang Fan led Beijing with 26 points and 6 rebounds, Zhang Lin and Sophia Young had 18 points and 16 points respectively.
Worse news for Shanxi is the injury of their second scorer Zhang Wei, who sprained the ankle after hitting a shot then landed on defender's foot in the second quarter.
Regular season champions Zhejiang outgunned Shenyang Army 98-80 as Elizabeth Cambage scored 35 points and grabbed 17 points. Bian Lan also finished with 34 points and 5 assists.
The only consolation for Shenyang Army is the veteran Miao Lijie, who had 29 points and handed 6 assists. Endi
