Flawless Toledo, Smith into Rio Pro last eight

Brazil's Felipe Toledo and South Africa's Jordy Smith each scored perfect 10s to progress to the quarterfinals of the Billabong Rio Pro on Saturday.
Toldeo, 18, delighted the home fans an alley-oop to air-reverse combination while 25-year-old Smith also put in a flawless fourth-round display to eclipse dual world champion Mick Fanning of Australia.
"That was my first perfect 10 on the tour and I' m at a loss for words right now," Toledo said. "I can' t even describe how I' m feeling.
"I' m just so stoked to compete against Jordy (Smith) and Mick (Fanning). I competed with them in the same round at Bells (Australia) and to win this heat in Brazil is amazing."
Eleven-time world champion Kelly Slater dominated Round 3 with a combined score of 19.67 out of 20 before managing just 7.33 as conditions deteriorated in Round 4.
But the 41-year-old rebounded to eliminate Australian Taj Burrow in a tight fifth-round battle.
"Taj definitely brings the best out in me," Slater said. "He started off with that barrel and I knew I had to do something. Luckily I was able to get that air reverse."
