China responds to anti-dumping probes from Brazil

China and Brazil should strengthen cooperation for mutual development rather than resorting to trade remedies, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said on Friday, after the latter launched anti-dumping probes on Chinese steel.

The two emerging economies should improve collaboration in trade, investment and technology, as protectionism only disrupts the normal trade order, the MOC said in an online statement.

The Chinese government holds that trade remedies should be adopted in a cautious and restrained manner, and discussion and cooperation should be promoted to resolve frictions, the MOC said.

The statement came after Brazil announced Monday that it will initiate anti-dumping investigations on steel strands imported from China.

The world has reached a consensus to improve coordination and make concerted efforts to weather hardships in the global steel sector, the MOC added. Endi
