The Qingdao leg of the ATP China International Tennis Challenge opened on Saturday, attracting more than 60 players from 35 countries and regions.

With a total bonus of 125,000 US dollars, the tournament will last to April 23, said Wan Jianbin, an official of Tennis Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China.

Players can get ATP points as they are qualified in each round and the champion can get 110 points at the final, Wan Jianbin said.

Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic, champion of the Qingdao leg in last year, arrived in Qingdao in April 13 and started his training immediately, Wan Jianbin said.

Some players of China's national tennis team attend the tournament as well, such as Zhang Ze, Gong Maoxin and Wu Di.

Qingdao will hold the tournament five years in a row from 2016 to 2020. Endit
