Ma’anshan
Ma'anshan city

Located in the east of Anhui province and on the southern bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Ma'anshan city adjoins Nanjing in Jiangsu province. It is a modern city with rich historical connotations. With an area of 1,686 square km and a population of 1.27 million, Ma'anshan has three districts and one county under its jurisdiction.

The tourism resources of Ma'anshan comprise not only the beautiful landscape, featuring magnificent rivers and precipitous cliffs, but also poems created to describe the beautiful landscape here. Li Bai (701—762, known as an immortal for his literary masterpieces), a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty (618—907) and Lin Sanzhi (1898—1989), a renowned modern calligrapher of cursive script, once lived and worked here. In addition, the legends of Conqueror Xiang Yu (232—202 BC) and General Zhu Ran of the state of Wu (222-280) of the Three Kingdoms period (220—280) have made the city renowned for heroic deeds.

A unique style, combining the construction of city and garden, gives Ma'anshan a picturesque ecological environment. As a result, it has been granted various titles and honors such as the National Sanitary City, National Garden City, National Environmental Protection Model City, China's Excellent Tourism City, and China's Habitat Environment Award for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment. Now Ma'anshan city has become a brilliant pearl by the Yangtze River.
