Three years after the devastating Sichuan earthquake, photographers went back to see what’s going on with the children who survived the disaster. The 8.0-magnitude earthquake, which struck in the early afternoon on May 12, killed at least 69,000 people, including thousands of schoolchildren.

Fang Junjie was 5 years old in 2008. He made a narrow escape from his kindergarten. 

    

Zhou Yonghong was 11 years old in 2008. She was rescued 10 minutes after the earthquake.

    

Li Wenxin was 1 year old  in 2008. His grandmother forgot to bring his toy when the quake hit his hometown and he was very upset at the time.

   

Zhang Shuai was 13 years old in 2008. He helped to save three classmates and a teacher and lost part of his pinky finger in the disaster.

    

Yang Yunqi was 8 years old in 2008. He was found trapped under debris after digging a hole through it.
