In Guangdong Province amid rising pork prices, Dongguan City's ban on pig breeding has triggered hot debates on public policies at the end of 2007, according to a Decision-making article in its No. 1 Issue in 2008.

 

Dongguan's Vice Mayor Li Xiaomei attended the Dongguan working conference aiming at cleaning up the pollution caused by livestock and poultry industries. At the conference she disclosed that Dongguan would impose a ban on pig breeding from January 1, 2009.
