A 5.66 million yuan (US$830,000) lottery prize is waiting to be claimed. The Shanghai Welfare Lottery Center issued an urgent notice yesterday advising that the deadline for the prize is 4pm on Friday.

The prize was announced on December 18, and the last dayit can be claimed is January 17 according to the center's rules. The center is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

If nobody claims the prize, it will be the first prize above 5 million yuan not to be picked up in Shanghai and the money will be put back into the prize pool.

The winning ticket was bought in the Minhang District of the city.
