An old man who had just celebrated his 100 year birthday still made it by climbing up to Mt. Qingyuan, a local scenic mountain near Quanzhou, southeast Fujian province, reports the Cross Straits Metropolis News.

Wu Shipu, the centenarian, who had his 100 birthday celebration on Jan. 31, jogged on Wednesday afternoon some three kilometers all the way from his home up the mountain at the invitation of a local senior citizens hiking club.

With the calligraphy of a big red Chinese character "Shou", or longevity, carved on the cliff of its summit, Mt. Qingyuan has been popular for its lucky blessings given for longevity.

The healthy senior enjoyed a happy group photo session together with his family members and fellow hikers who accompanied him after he was on top of the mountain.

The report says the only thing that supported the old man in the jogging was nothing but a long wooden stick, not really in the sense of a walking stick.

A local senior citizens' hiking club also held a banquet in his honor on the mountain.

Wu Shipu, born in 1910, was once doing his own private business by carrying his cargos all the way across the local mountainous regions during his early years. Wu has also been an active member of the local senior citizens' hiking club, his 71 year old son explained.
