Adjust font size:

A mini van carrying toy cap guns exploded in Shanghai's Nanhui District about 7:35 AM today, leaving one worker dead and four others injured, a local newspaper reported on its website.

The blast occurred when the workers were unloading the toy guns from the vehicle to a warehouse in Nanyuan Road of Huinan County in the district, the Oriental Morning Post said.

The van was destroyed in the blast. The force of the explosion also shattered some windows in nearby buildings.

According to a report from Oriental Morning Radio, the injured have been sent to Nanhui Central Hospital in the county.

Some of the guns didn't explode and remain in the debris of the mini van. Police are trying to cut the van into pieces with a special machine to safely remove the guns, said the radio report.
