Five people died and one was injured after a tractor plunged over a 500-meter cliff in southwestern Yunnan Province, a local official said on Thursday.

The tractor overturned at about 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday as the driver, surnamed Chen, from Renhe village, Zhenkang county, was driving to his hometown of Wumulan village to visit his parents' tomb.

Chen sustained only minor injuries, but his wife, two daughters, brother-in-law and a niece died, according to an official with the Lincang municipal government.
