Man sentenced to life for faking invoices

A corporate representative in Beijing was sentenced to life for making out fake transport invoices worth over a hundred million yuan, local tax authority said.

Lu Weigang, corporate representative of Beijing Luyutong Transport Co. Ltd, forged transport invoices worth 169 million yuan (24 million US dollars) from March to July of 2004, the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court found.

Lu was given life term and all his personal property confiscated, according to a Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court ruling on Dec. 20.

The company was also found to avoid taxes worth 2.5 million yuan.

One hundred enterprises involved in the case were fined 1.4 million yuan for their illegal behaviors.
