A heavy truck collided with a police wagon from behind on an expressway in south China's Guangdong Province on Saturday, leaving six people dead and another one injured.

The accident occurred at around 10:30 AM. on the expressway linking Beijing and Guangdong's Zhuhai, at a section about 70 kilometers from the downtown area of Shaoguan City, local police said.

All the dead and injured were from the police wagon.

The truck was registered in the central Henan Province while the police wagon was licensed in the central Hunan Province.

No information about the occupants on the truck was immediately available.

An investigation into the cause is underway.
