A subway construction site has collapsed in Shanghai, with no casualties reported.

The collapse, a 1.8-diameter hollow measuring 6 m in depth, occurred at a construction site of subway line 10 near the Nanchang Road-South Shaanxi Road intersection at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Police have sealed off the road section and evacuated traffic nearby. The hole has also been filled up with sand and stones.

Currently eight rail transit lines and 116 stations are under construction in the city. Officials have promised to beef up work safety and avoid recurrence of similar accidents.
