2 policemen face arrest in beating death of grad student
Adjust font size:

Police decided on Thursday to seek an arrest warrant from prosecutors for two policemen allegedly involved in a fatal fight in Harbin, capital of China's northeastern Heilongjiang Province, that led to the death of a 22-year-old university graduate.

Lu Hongxi, deputy director of the Harbin public security bureau, announced the decision at a press conference.

Lu said the decision was based on evidence and an autopsy that showed the victim, Lin Songling, was beaten in the head with a blunt instrument and died of cerebral hemorrhage.

The two police, Liu Linan and Qi Xin, and four other police got into a quarrel with the victim and his friends in front of a nightclub on Oct. 11. Lin had allegedly rebuked one of the police for speeding, Lu said.

Lin was later found dead at the scene and several other people on both sides of the dispute were injured, the official said.
