Wang Yuren named as new PLA Macao Garrison commander

China's Central Military Commission (CMC) has appointed Major General Wang Yuren to succeed Major General Liu Lianhua as commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in the Macao Special Administrative region (SAR), according to a CMC order made public in Macao Sunday.

According to the order signed by Hu Jintao, chairman of the CMC, Major General Liu Lianhua will be promoted to a new post. Major General Liu Lianhua's new post was not specified in the announcement released by Major Yang Yongliang, spokesperson of the PLA Garrison in Macao SAR.

Before leaving for his new post, Major General Liu Lianhua thanked the Macao SAR government and SAR's Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah for their long-time support and caring for his work and the PLA Garrison in Macao SAR.

In the meantime, Major General Wang Yuren said he will lead the PLA Garrison in Macao SAR to make new contribution to Macao's long- term prosperity and stability, while strictly abide by the law.
