China produced 110 million kilowatts of power generators in
2006, up 27 percent from the previous year, the National
Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said in its latest
The report said Chinese enterprises have developed
state-of-the-art technologies for manufacturing 300,000 kw and
600,000 kw generators, and have also increased home-made parts in
million kw-level generators.
China's power generator producers scored a total output value of
92.5 billion yuan (about US$11.86 billion), increasing 24 percent
over the previous year.
The report said that, driven by huge power demand, China's power
equipment manufacturing industry has maintained fairly rapid growth
in recent years. The country is designing and manufacturing
large-capacity generators to replace polluting small thermo-power
In 2006 China's power industry installed some 100 million kw of
power generators, bringing the total installed capacity to 622
million kw, ranking second in the world.
According to the country's 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010), by 2010 the
country's total installed capacity will hit 840 million kw.
