Public security measures tightened to ensure Olympics
Adjust font size:

The Chinese Ministry of Public Security said on Monday it will step up a seven-month campaign from April to October to ensure stability for Beijing Olympics.

In the wake of suspected terror plots and the riots in Tibetan areas, measures will be taken to protect electronic facilities and oil and gas networks from sabotage, and special attention will be paid to the security of public recreational places, hotels and leased housing, said the ministry. Illegal guns and explosives will be seized, it added.

The ministry said it will work with the State Council to improve the political awareness and responsibilities among the public in Olympic host cities.
