Villager stabbing spree kills 2 children
Adjust font size:

The nine people injured in a villager's stabbing spree in central China that left two children dead are still receiving treatment in hospitals and in stable condition, police said Tuesday.

Cheng Jiangong, chief of Nanzhao County Public Security Bureau, said Du Fusheng, a 36-year-old resident of Jingzihe village, broke into houses of five villagers at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday and stabbed 11 people with a knife used for killing pigs. Two children died at the scene. The injured were all sent to hospitals in Nanzhao County and Nanyang City for treatment.

One of the dead was the grandson of Du's brother. The casualties were all Du's clansmen.

Du had committed suicide by taking a toxic substance when police arrived at the scene, Cheng said.

Police said an investigation showed Du committed the stabbing in revenge as he had had quarrels with his clansmen, including his brother and sister-in-law.

The case was still being investigated.
