Beaten wife turns husband in for illegally storing explosives
Adjust font size:

A woman who had been beaten by her husband turned the man in by reporting him to police for illegally storing explosives, a local officer in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region said Sunday.

The man, surnamed Hu, beat his wife after drinking last Monday. The woman, who was left black and blue, called the police station, saying Hu had stored explosives in his house, said Jiao Yunfeng, an officer with the Aohan Banner Police Station.

Police raided Hu's house and found more than five kilograms of explosives in a plastic bucket.

Hu said he got the explosives when he was working on a construction site. He took the explosives home after quitting the job last November "for temporary storage".

Jiao said Hu had been put under an administrative detention for 15 days.

"I am deeply regretful for having beaten my wife and taken the deadly things home," said Hu. "My insanity has destroyed the whole family."
