5.2-magnitude earthquake shakes NW China

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale jolted China's northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 8:33 p.m. Thursday, according to China's seismological network.

The epicenter was about 96 kilometers underground and was located at 36.4 degrees north latitude and 77.6 degrees east longitude between Yecheng County and Pishan County in the southwestern part of the region.

So far there have been no reports of damage and casualty from local governments.
