Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung met Friday with Zhao Hongzhu, secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Hangzhou.

"In recent years, Zhejiang and Taiwan have developed very close communication in terms of economy and trade," said Zhao Hongzhu, hoping that Wu's visit will boost the cooperation between the two sides in economy, culture, education, religion and tourism among others.

"We will continue to promote the exchange between Taiwan and Zhejiang, and provide better services for Taiwan compatriots to expand their businesses in Zhejiang," he said.

Wu welcomed Zhejiang's companies to invest in the island and encouraged firms on the island to develop their businesses in Zhejiang.

Wu arrived here Friday noon. Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang, is the third stop in his mainland visit. He will leave for Nanjing, the last stop, Saturday afternoon.
