Her ex-colleague, A Yi, who said in a blog last week that she had been arrested for spying, made an apology in his latest blog.

A Yi or Zhou Yijun, a former CCTV part-time anchorman and now a journalism professor at Peking University, made his apology three days after he alleged that the 38-year-old TV presenter had volunteered for the "Defense Watch" program to gain access to confidential intelligence and had been arrested on May 12. He made the claims in his blog on Sina.com, China's biggest news portal.

A Yi said in an update that there was difference between spying and disclosing secrets and he never said that Fang was a spy. But he also said sorry and declined to defend himself on the issue.

A Yi's entry containing the allegation was published on June 9 but is no longer on his blog. He refused to disclose the source behind the allegation.

Meanwhile, Fang declined to comment on the apology, according to the Beijing Morning Post. In an interview with Sina.com on Saturday, Fang said she would never betray her motherland.

Fang no longer presents "Defense Watch," which features specialists from the People's Liberation Army discussing military topics.
