A bus collided with a mini car Wednesday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, leaving eight dead and one injured, local government sources said.

The accident occurred at about 12:50 p.m. in Yao'an County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture when the bus was going from Kunming, Yunnan provincial capital to Chuxiong's Dayao County.

Seven were killed at the scene and one died at the hospital.

The crash is under investigation.
