6.0-magnitude quake hits SW China

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale hit southwest China's Yunnan Province Thursday evening, according to the China National Seismological Network. No casualties have been reported.

The quake occurred at 7:19 p.m., with its epicenter in Yao'an County in the mountainous Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, according to the network.

Xinhua reporters are on the way to Yao'an, about 200 kilometers from the provincial capital Kunming City.
