Four of the five dead were confirmed to be workers of the quarry that provides stones for a hydropower station project.

Large machines, including eight excavators and 20 other vehicles has entered the site and joined the rescue.

The disaster was triggered by heavy rains Thursday in Kangding County. A total of 136 temporary sheds housing the workers for the hydropower station project were buried by 500,000 cubic meters of mud and rocks, according to rescuers.
