Drunk driver gets life in prison
Adjust font size:

A drunk driver in northern China's Hebei Province has been sentenced to life in jail after running over two traffic police officers, killing one and injuring the other. Baoding City Intermediate People's Court convicted Zhang Haipeng of endangering public security with hazardous means, the Hebei Youth Daily reported Thursday.

The court said Zhang was driving toward a police checkpoint on July 31, 2008 after drinking at three restaurants. To avoid a police check, he ran down Li Jinyong and Chen Xinli.
