A photography exhibition showing the development and social life of Macao after its return to China in 1999 opens in Beijing on August 28, 2009. It will then travel all over China in the following two months.

The free exhibition is being shown on the 16th floor of the Macao Center in Beijing, from 9 AM to 5 PM every day until September 9. It will then move on to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Guangzhou.

The exhibition will stay in each city for about a week and will return to the departure hall on the second floor at the Macao International Airport on November 17. According to one of the organizers and Chairman Lok Po of the Macao Journalists Club, the Tianjin government is also interested in hosting the exhibition. Both sides are planning to hold a special tour there.

The 172 news photos taken by 13 Macao journalists in the past decade cover a wide range of subjects such as political events, culture and sports. The photos are categorized into eight parts: "Return to the Motherland," "Support of the Central Government," "Economic Blastoff," "New Look of the City," "World Heritage," "Cultural Boom," "Harmonious Society," and "Energetic Life along the Hao River."

It celebrates the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to China and reflects on the enormous changes that have taken place in Macao's society during that time.
