Police have detained six suspects for illegal trading of explosives in central China's Henan Province.

The six suspects, whose identities were not disclosed, were caught on the spot when trading about 15,000 electric detonators in Anyang County of Anyang City on Sept. 4, said Zhao Quanhe, head of a security control detachment with the Public Security Administration of Henan, on Sunday.

Police officers were still questioning the suspects for more clues about the sources of the explosives and their sales channels, he said.

Police authorities in the populous province are intensifying crackdown upon illegal trading of explosives and weapons to create a stable social environment for the celebrations to mark the 60th National Day of the People's Republic that falls on Oct. 1.
