Newyou, the first giant panda born in spring celebrated her first birthday in China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Wolong of southwestern China's Sichuan Province.

This also means the giant panda has entered its steady growing period.

West China City Daily reported on Monday that the giant panda cub born on February 23 last year came as a surprise as giant pandas usually mate in the spring and give births in the summer.

The cub Newyou created several records in the history of the reproduction of giant pandas, such as the longest pregnancy and being born in spring.
