The longest bridge in south China's Hainan Province is now being built, web site Hinews reported on Thursday.

The 21 kilometer bridge will be located in Haikou, the capital city of southern Hainan Province. It will begin at the Haikou railway station and then join together several main thoroughfares, easing traffic in the area.

647 piers will be built by the end of this year to complete the huge project.
