Armed police charge in an anti-terrorist drill in Shanghai yesterday. During the two-hour drill, armed police rescued hostages, defused explosives and subdued a number of terrorists in the Huangpu River area and several large stadiums. Snipers were also involved in the drill. The exercise was part of the city's preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Shanghai will host 12 Olympic football matches, including group matches, a semifinal, and the bronze medal game.
