NW China quake followed by 1,342 aftershocks

China's seismological authority has recorded 1,342 aftershocks in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit the region on April 14, disaster relief headquarters said Wednesday.

As of 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, the area has been hit by 1,342 aftershocks, 13 of which surpassed 3 magnitude. Of the 13, one was measured between 6.0-6.9 magnitude, three between 4.0-4.9 magnitude and nine between 3.0-3.9 magnitude.

The quake has left at least 2,064 dead, 175 missing and 12,135 injured, as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.
